In der Ausstellung On Terraforming entwerfen Charlotte Bastian und Andrea J. Grote irritierende Bildwelten, die Landschaft als vom Menschen tiefgreifend geprägtes und gefährdetes Gefüge zeigen. Ausgehend von der Fotografie entwickeln beide Künstlerinnen unterschiedliche ästhetische Strategien, um menschliche Eingriffe in die Natur sichtbar zu machen. Bastians Collagen und stereoskopische Montagen verbinden Zeiten und Orte zu ungewöhnlichen Landschaftsräumen des Anthropozäns. Grotes Installationen und Fotografien thematisieren die zerstörerische Nutzung alpiner Räume und die Ambivalenz zwischen visueller Verführung und ökologischer Verletzung.

In the exhibition On Terraforming, Charlotte Bastian and Andrea J. Grote create unsettling visual worlds that depict landscape as a system profoundly shaped – and endangered – by human activity. Using photography as a point of departure, both artists develop distinct aesthetic strategies to reveal human interventions in nature. Bastian’s collages and stereoscopic montages merge times and places into unusual landscapes of the Anthropocene. Grote’s installations and photographs address the destructive exploitation of alpine environments and the ambivalence between visual seduction and ecological harm.
